Catch up on three new Shreveport-area businesses that held their ribbon-cutting ceremonies before the new year.

Pita Pit Shreveport

Pita Pit offers customers a healthy alternative, serving up tender meats, fresh vegetables, and tasty cheeses and sauces wrapped into warm pita bread.

Pita Pit

Want to eat something healthier than fried food in Shreveport or Bossier City? Now you can.

Pita Pit held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 28, serving up customers at 1106 Shreveport Barksdale Highway. Think fresh vegetables and tender meats grilled to perfection and rolled into warm bread. Pair it with a cool, energetic atmosphere, and you’ve nailed it.

Owners Matt and Alicia Smith and Patty and David Smith opened a location for Pita Pit after deciding the Shreveport health food scene needed a boost. Matt said Pita Pit keeps it simple. No menu—just pick your ingredients. They do the rest. You’ve got an array of meat, vegetables, sauces and cheeses to choose from, and you can switch it up every time.

For those who want to go digital, you can order online before you get there on the app or at www.pitapitusa.com. Because it’s typed out instead of verbally communicated, Matt said ordering online leaves less room for mistakes. And, when it’s ready, you can walk in to pick it up without waiting in line.

Pita Pit plans to deliver in the future within a 5-mile radius. And though it hasn’t officially kicked off its catering program yet, Matt said the orders have already started pouring in.

Once Upon a Diamond Shreveport

Once Upon a Diamond’s selection features jewelry from engagement rings to vintage estate pieces.

Once Upon a Diamond

Looking to pick out an engagement ring or treat yourself to a new piece of jewelry?

Once Upon a Diamond cut the ribbon at its new location at 1003 Pierremont Road on December 10th. From custom rings to hand-picked estate pieces, the local store offers a variety of jewelry in its physical location and online.

Owner Nicholas Brown said Once Upon a Diamond remains special in that it offers typical engagement rings but also focuses on one-of-a-kind jewelry, like pieces made in the 1800s that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. And though the store boasts a unique collection, Brown considers the business’ family-owned characteristic one of its greatest.

“Between myself, my father and brother, we are the fourth generation,” Brown said.

Brown also highlights the service, noting customers get good deals and personal attention.

Fish Window Cleaning Bossier City

Fish Window Cleaning offers washing for interior and exterior windows as well as cleaning for ceiling fans, skylights and other parts of your home.

Fish Window Cleaning

Need help cleaning your windows for spring? You’ve got it.

Fish Window Cleaning opened on October 5 at 2223 Old Minden Road in Bossier City. Owners Jorge and Nancy Negron started a location in north Louisiana after finding the St. Louis-based franchiser.

Nancy said the couple wanted to start their own business after Jorge was laid off in April from the oilfield and after exploring several franchises, Fish Window Cleaning seemed to have everything they were looking for. There are more than 260 franchises located in almost every state.

Since its opening, Nancy said the business’ success has skyrocketed. Fish Window Cleaning cleans windows in Shreveport, Bossier City, Benton, Minden, Arcadia, Ruston and the surrounding areas. The service covers exterior and interior windows on residences and commercial buildings. Fish Window Cleaning also hits other elements as well, from mirrors and gutters to skylights and ceiling fans.

Though the business has done well so far, Nancy hesitates to credit she and her husband.

“We have a great group working with us, and they make us look good,” she said. “I mean, they are out there doing good jobs, getting compliments and wanting to do the best job they can.”

Fish Window Cleaning remains bonded and insured, and customers benefit from competitive pricing.

Nancy said nationally, Founder Mike Merrick possesses great character, and the company is still family owned.
